Flex2SQL Migration Tool and Windows Vista Known Issues

With Windows Vista's security model you might have some problems with Flex2SQL Migration Tool, here are some issues you might face and a way to workaround them:

"User Count exceeded for this license" error: this happens with the DataFlex runtime cannot find (or does not have access) to the DataFlex user count file.

Solution: Add write access of your user to the Flex2SQL installation folder "C:Program FilesMertech Data Systems".

Slow login and operations in Flex2SQL Migration Tool: Flex2SQL is a fast tool, it should not take more than a couple seconds to login, if you experience more than 15 seconds just to login there is something wrong.

Solution: Your DFPATH might be pointing to a network directory (e.g. 192.168.1.80) and the networking machine is off or changed its IP. So change your DFPATH to a accessible path, also make sure to check in Flex2SQL the "user defined path" that might be using the network directory.

Your login information is not remembered: When you login in Flex2SQL you have an option to remember the info you just input, this happens when you select to remember the info and it is not shown when you try to login again.

Solution: Check your Flex2SQL Migration Tool version, we fully support Windows Vista since version 9.0.102. Check if you can update to a newer version.

The "Convert Database Progress Dialog" disappear: When you're migrating a table in Flex2SQL, you'll notice the progress dialog is not shown.

Workaround: There is no solution for this issue yet, is a VisualDataflex runtime issue that we hope they fix in a future version, meanwhile you can always restore the dialog from the taskbar.

Login dialog doesn't look right in Vista when using "classic theme": Using the classic theme you'll notice that the dialog does not look with the right size.

Solution: Check your Flex2SQL Migration Tool version, we fully support Windows Vista since version 9.0.102. Check if you can update to a newer version.

Convert dialog keep growing help statusbar: if you open the convert dialog multiple times that the local help statusbar grows each time you open the dialog.
