The Problem
The font in the Flex2SQL Migration Utility dialog boxes is larger than expected, resulting in cut off characters and an unattractive window display.
The Cause
Windows 7 includes a feature to improve the screen display on high resolution monitors. If the system is set to 125% of normal size, font sizes are increased as expected. However, if the user sets the DPI back to 100%, scalable TrueType fonts adjust as expected, but bitmap fonts like MS Sans Serif do not.
The Solution
- Open the Windows Start menu and run Regedit
- Locate the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionFonts
- Find MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24 and change SSERIFF.FON to SSERIFE.FON
- Restart your system for the changes to take effect.
Note: You may also need to adjust MS Serif and Courier fonts to fix similar problems with other applications.
