Mertech Delivers Multi-language, Multi-protocol API Development Tool for the SMB Market

New Evolution (now Thriftly.io) Server Simplifies Integration Between Applications Without Complex Infrastructure

Pembroke Pines, FL

Mertech, a leading provider of specialty database middleware products and application modernization services, announced the availability of its new multi-language, multi-protocol Application Programming Interface (API) Server called Evolution. Mertech Evolution simplifies API development by allowing developers to easily expose existing application functions as Web APIs.

These APIs can then be consumed by other applications through HTTP or TCP using multiple industry standard protocols such as JSON-RPC, SOAP and Thrift. As companies look to leverage the simplicity and cost effectiveness of cloud computing, Evolution will allow companies to rapidly and cost-effectively transition existing Windows desktop applications to be used in a Software as a Service (SaaS) model.

Mertech's Evolution (now Thriftly.io) enables companies to:

  • Facilitate cross language development using Thrift
  • Convert existing function calls to Web APIs that can be served using HTTP or TCP
  • Support JSON-RPC and SOAP protocols using the same code base
  • Seamlessly integrate existing Windows applications with open source technology stack
  • Easily test API using a built-in API testing framework

"Evolution is an ideal solution for companies looking to convert their Windows Applications into a SaaS offering." said Riaz Merchant, CEO at Mertech. "With Evolution, developers can create an API to expose the business rules developed in one language and have it available to be consumed by other languages via multiple protocols. It offers significant time and cost savings because it doesn’t matter what programming language is used, it doesn’t matter the protocol or what language the calling program was developed in, and it doesn't require re-coding of existing applications."

Evolution comes with  a server administration manager which can be used in standalone mode or can be  used as a plug-in to Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Additionally, Evolution provides uncomplicated deployment including configuration and installation of Apache.

The Evolution development license is free and now available. Visit www.mertechdata.com for the free developer license or a trial version of the deployment server.
