Mertech Data Systems, the leading provider of high-performance middle-ware technology announces the upcoming release of Mertech DocuMentor, the first product of its kind to generate and maintain technical design documentation directly from DataFlex and Visual DataFlex application source code.
DocuMentor breaks down the complexity of DataFlex application source into an easy to follow cross-referenced HTML-based report that allows developers to understand the architecture of the application far more quickly than going through each source module or reviewing manually written design documentation. The DocuMentor report provides details of structure, definition and instances of program elements such as classes, functions and procedures, database files and fields, UI-elements with visual representation, global variables, constants and macros. The user can then click on links to jump to the definition or instances of the element within the report. The report provides the names of source modules where the element is used and the exact line number within each module.
According to Riaz Merchant, CEO of Mertech Data Systems, “DocuMENTOR will help companies implement an effective software development process, increase programmer productivity, and reduce the cost of training new developers. By implementing DocuMENTOR, companies will significantly reduce the cost of application reengineering and provide insurance against losing important members of the development team.”
DocuMentor will be available in three different versions:
