Mertech Data Systems, the leading provider of high-performance middleware technology, is pleased to announce that it will officially support Microsoft’s Windows Azure SQL Database. SQL Azure is a part of Microsoft’s Platform as a Service (PaaS) cloud offering, which allows users to quickly requisition MS SQL Server database instances and integrate them easily with their enterprise, web or mobile applications.
With the addition of SQL Azure support, Mertech will be able to provide its customers with another option in deploying applications based on the Microsoft SQL Server database. According to Riaz Merchant, Mertech’s CEO, “Windows Azure is unique in the sense that it not only provides infrastructure but also platform as a service. While the technology is still maturing, it provides a flexible cloud offering for companies looking to develop and deploy their applications quickly and affordably. With Microsoft resources behind it, Azure will be a major player in the market.”
Support for SQL Azure will be available in Mertech’s Flex2SQL for MS SQL Server v12.1, which is expected to be available sometime in August.
