Troubleshooting Btrieve Migration Errors

The BTR2SQL migration utility allows developers to generate two reports to track errors that may occur during the Btrieve migration process.  The Migration report summarizes the table creation, index creation and data migration steps and lists whether the migration was successful.  The Migration Trace report provides more details and can be used to help identify the cause of a migration error. If an error displays during migration, for example, “Error -1 returned during initialization of table XXXX,” enable the Migration Trace report.

To enable the Migration Trace report and capture error details:

1. Select File | Preferences from the BTR2SQL menu bar.

The Preferences dialog box displays.

 PreferencesMigrationTrace

2. Check the Migration Trace File option.

3. Use the Browse button to choose a trace File Name.

4. Select Detail Level 1.

5. Select OK.

6. Rerun the migration.

To examine the Migration Trace report:

1. Select Reports | Driver Trace from the menu bar (or choose the Drive Trace toolbar button).

2. Search for “error” in the report. The failed row and the values of the fields in the row are listed.
