Using Auto-Reconnect in a Cluster Situation

For customers who have a full blown cluster just as in database mirroring, typically when testing a failover, there is a hiccup of a few seconds. Our auto-reconnect feature has been able to detect the failover and continue working without problems.

This improvement comes with the new release of our Flex2SQL driver. Previously, our drivers would throw an error and then fail.

The new Mertech driver with the auto-reconnect feature is able to detect the failover and properly overcome the short connection loss and continue working without problems. This works not only in database mirroring but in a cluster environment as well.

Other situations where the auto-reconnect feature is helpful are for web applications that sit on the connection for a long time in MySQL, leading them to time out, and in the case of shaky connections, for example connecting over the internet of VPN to a server in a remote location.
