The Btrieve data migration process occurs in two simple steps:
1. Creation of a table with the same name and file structure as the Btrieve file.
2. Copying of records from the Btrieve file to the table.
When using the BTR2SQL conversion tool to convert the data, the multi-step process occurs in one step. You also have the option to create an empty table and copy the data into the newly created table.
Open the file.ddf | Select file.ddf and navigate to the location where the DDF is stored.
1. Select a single data file or multiple data files for migration.
2. <Right-click> on a file that has been selected. It is only necessary to <right-click> on one of the selected files if you have multiple files selected for migration.
3. Select Convert Data Files….
4. Set the Options, Fields, and Indexes using the appropriate tabs if needed. Refer to the following sections for information on these tabs.
5. Press OK to run the conversion.
